TRX Rent is a premier blockchain infrastructure provider and educational hub based in Silicon Valley. Founded in 2019 by a team of distributed systems engineers and blockchain researchers, we set out with a clear mission: make Tron Energy accessible, understandable, and cost-effective for every developer building on the Tron network.

What started as a small team of five engineers in a co-working space on San Fernando Street has grown into a 85-person company serving over 2,400 enterprise clients worldwide. Our headquarters remain in the heart of downtown San Jose, where our development, support, and customer success teams operate from a modern 12,000 sq ft office space.

From a Co-Working Space to Enterprise Infrastructure

Q3 2019 — Founded

The Beginning

Five distributed systems engineers from Stanford and UC Berkeley founded TRX Rent in a co-working space at 100 W San Fernando St, San Jose. Initial focus: research into Tron Virtual Machine energy consumption patterns and developer education through online workshops and written guides.

Q1 2020 — First Course Launch

Education Platform Goes Live

Launched our first structured course, "Tron Energy Fundamentals," which enrolled 340 developers in the first month. Simultaneously began developing the first prototype of what would become the VMI protocol, focusing on automated energy estimation for common contract patterns.

Q4 2020 — VMI Protocol Alpha

VMI Protocol Alpha Release

Released the alpha version of the VMI (Virtual Machine Interface) protocol to a closed group of 50 beta testers. Early results showed a 42% average reduction in deployment costs. Secured our first enterprise partnership with a San Francisco-based DApp studio.

Q2 2021 — Series A

Growth & Expansion

Secured $8.5M in Series A funding, enabling us to expand the team to 35 engineers, move to a dedicated office in downtown San Jose, and launch the VMI protocol publicly with RESTful and gRPC API support. Reached 500 active enterprise clients by year-end.

Q1 2022 — VMI v2.0

Second Generation Protocol

Released VMI v2.0 with adaptive routing algorithms, reducing average latency from 45ms to 12ms. Introduced on-premise deployment options for enterprise clients with strict compliance requirements. Achieved SOC 2 Type II certification.

Q3 2023 — Enterprise Certification

VMI Enterprise Certification Program

Launched the VMI Enterprise Certification Program in partnership with three major universities. Over 800 engineers completed their certification within the first year. Surpassed 2,000 enterprise clients and 3 billion operations routed through the VMI protocol.

Q1 2024 — VMI v3.0 & Present

AI-Powered Optimization

Released VMI v3.0 featuring machine-learning-based routing predictions that pre-allocate energy before contract execution begins. Now serving 2,400+ enterprise clients with 85 team members across engineering, education, and customer success. Our San Jose headquarters continues to be the center of innovation for Tron Energy infrastructure.
